Musings from the Outer Mind was always a bit of a peculiarity. Originally meant to be a "bonus" addition to the 7 Oozings volumes, as I figured back then that 7 was the perfect amount for this series, I felt like it was never really part of the series even though it had the same concept. So, after some thought, I decided to elevate it to it's rightful status as a bona fide edition of the Oozings compilations. Artwork has been redone, all tracks retagged, now it can sit proudly as Volume 20!

This is a style of music I never really began to appreciate until about 10 years ago, now I just can't get enough of it! My favourite period is from the late 60s to late 70s, where the sound was often raw and incorporated psychedelia as well as funk into that afrobeat sound. Enjoy!

This mix is more or less as the cover states. There is the odd album track, such as Able Tasmans' "Little Hearts" from the album "A Cuppa Tea and a Lie Down", this track was criminally overlooked on the compilation "Songs from the Departure Lounge". A few of the songs here have only ever been issued on vinyl or as non album track b-sides, such as the Bored Games track and The Bats "Slow Alight", which is a different version to the one on the album "Silverbeet". Oh, and a slight cheat here, all the tracks on this compilation have been released on Flying Nun over the years apart from the live version of The Clean's "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" which is from the rare live album "Slush Fund", released on Arclife Records in 2001.
