This is a compilation I first made back in 2008. The idea was to make 4 compilations of The Fall, this one being the first. I've kept the original track order plus original cover art, my skills at making cover art back then not quite as "accomplished" as now! The other 3 compilations would have been "The Early Years (1978-1982)", "The Brix Years (1983-1989)" and the later years. As many of you may know I did make a compilation of the later years, 2000-2017, shortly after Mark E. Smith's death.
This leaves a gap, missing the album The Marshall Suite from 1999. I shall have to rectify that, I feel Marshall Suite was one of their finest albums of the 1990s. But for now, I hope you enjoy this resurrected mix. Maybe in the future I'll do a 'mega' Fall collection, comprising my 2 favourite tracks from each album (that'll be a tough choice) plus single/EP releases. This could be at least 4 CDs in length, if not more! Info containing track origin & year of release is tagged in the music files and in the download file, and as always stay safe!

Definitely the difficult years though.
Amazing how the turn out for live gigs could vary from around 150 to several hundred, in Edunburgh at least.
'Rose' and 'Paranoia Man' are dead-on when it comes to the more obscure tracks, though. Both majestic.
Where is Arms Control Poseur? Or Ed's Babe, Idiot Joy Showland, Ten Houses of Eve, Life Just Bounces, Surmount All Obstacles!?!?! Where the hell is The Ballard of J. Drummer? Why Are People Grudgeful??
If there are other tracks anyone feels I failed at not including please let me know. I'll then make a huge list of those songs and you can compile them as you wish. But beware, if you miss one track I really like I'll have to call you out on it. Cheers!

My response was also very tongue-in-cheek, but like you say humour maybe doesn't come across so well online! Of course with any Fall compilations there'll be tracks you wish were there over others. Odds on if I was to make this compilation today I probably would've picked many different tracks.
Edinburgh Man, Spinetrak and He Pep! are excellent tracks deserving of any compilation, alas they didn't quite make it on this one. God knows what feedback I'll get if I ever do get around to making the "Mega" collection, picking my 2 favourite tracks from each album would take some consideration. Anyway thanks for the feedback Des, and Charles, it's all appreciated.
No offence/ criticism was ever intended. I also see now that the first couple of comments, mine included, could've just led to a whole list of tracks not included, which wasn't intended as a criticism by me, more just a declaration of love for the tracks I mentioned. Sorry, man.

Compiling The Fall is definitely up there with cat wrangling. There've been enough comps attempted with varying levels of success. Most have a charm if not a cohesion.
Interesting title you chose, obviously a temporal artistic reference rather than a behavioural one, otherwise The Contrary Years, The Misanthropic Years or The Mid-life Crisis Years would have also suited. (Though the first two could have served ANY Fall period!)
